This first part of the play establishes Norma and Mary in childhood - two young girls in an uneven relationship. Norma, however, comes from a more privileged and nurtured background. Due to Mary’s mothers profession she gets attention from predatory older men. Mary wants a mother like Norma’s. Mary commits a crime. 10 years later we meet Mary and her fiend Lucy and two soldiers, Steve and Ray, in their bedroom. Steve and Ray are very different when it comes to their approach to getting what they want from the girls. Despite being soldiers they are still shocked by Mary’s crime. The actors portray very distinct characters, which make for an interesting play.
