The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe The Musical – an interesting proposition for anyone to some of the most committed and convincing acting I have seen so far this Fringe creates a show well worthy of the praise it has already received. Alasdair Buchan’s shrewd direction is apparent throughout as the play does not fall into the trap of lingering too long on the minor details and the show successfully presents a wide array of theatre conventions that would make RADA cringe with envy. Charlie Bird, William Boothroyd and Edd Franklin give impeccable performances to lighten the mood, creating moments of brief respite to the thought-provoking script. If you want to pass an hour midafternoon lost in thought, emotion and awe this is the one to catch. These artists are ambassadors who prove that Youth Theatre is not dead.
