We are given a chance to hear about the events in Truman’s life that formed his character and made him the man he was. We hear about this childhood and his love of words. Not having many friends he spends a lot of his time on his own. Truman believes in writing the truth and accepts the consequences; he doesn’t hide his sexuality. We hear about the people he socialises with. We learn about his writings and in particular his book In Cold Blood. We witness him immersing himself into research and the obstacles that almost prevent him getting the book finished. Once published he become famous and everybody wanted him - finally getting the much wanted attention and approval from others. But things in his life change leading to loneliness and destructive behaviour. Bob Kingdom becomes Truman Capote and everyone is transfixed by the story of this man and his life played out before them. I found it a fascinating. He got a standing ovation from the audience at the end. This is your last chance to catch this show, as it is the farewell tour. If you want an insight into this man’s unique life then go along.
